Guilt Trip is an Android digital-wellbeing app that helps you interrupt your own doomscrolling with a persona overlay. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app does and does not handle.
None. Guilt Trip does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personally identifiable information. There is no user account, no login, no cloud sync, and no telemetry. The app does not communicate with any server.
To do its job, Guilt Trip reads one type of information from Android, entirely on your device: foreground-app events. Android's UsageStatsManager API tells Guilt Trip which social-media app is currently on top of your screen, and when you opened it — the same information the built-in Android Digital Wellbeing feature uses.
Specifically, we only see:
com.instagram.android)We only look at the 15 social-media packages the app explicitly monitors: Instagram, YouTube, TikTok (three regional variants), Facebook, Facebook Lite, X (formerly Twitter), Snapchat, Reddit, Pinterest, Threads, ShareChat, Moj, and Chingari. We do not see, and cannot see, anything you do inside those apps.
This data is processed in memory for a fraction of a second per check, never written to disk in raw form, and never transmitted anywhere. Google Play's Data Safety framework classifies this as App activity → App interactions → Processed ephemerally.
The app stores your own configuration on your device using Android's DataStore. This includes which of the 15 monitored apps you have enabled, the per-app time budget you have set, whether the master switch is on or off, whether you have completed onboarding, and the timestamp of the app's most recent internal heartbeat. This configuration never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

The app does not request the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission (we cannot scan your full app list), the BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE permission (we do not use Android accessibility APIs), or any permission for location, contacts, camera, microphone, calendar, or storage.
Guilt Trip does not integrate any third-party SDKs. There are no advertising networks, analytics providers, crash reporters, cloud services, or payment processors in this version of the app.
Guilt Trip is intended for users 18 years and older. The app does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.
Because we do not collect any data, there is nothing for us to retain and nothing for us to delete on our servers — we do not operate any servers. The configuration the app stores on your device remains until you uninstall the app or clear its data through Android's Settings.
If we materially change how the app handles data — for example, if a future version adds any kind of network functionality or third-party integration — this policy will be updated before those features are released, and the "Effective date" above will change.
